1 SJRQ is a high-profile riverside development comprising of 112,000 square feet of offices and 7,000 square feet of food and beverage space.

With striking Liffey views, this landmark development has merged old and new architecture, combining a restored Dublin tramway entrance and two industrial era buildings with a stunning new six-storey grade A office complex.

This recently completed office development received the highest level of LEED certification based on building and design features including the Rooftop Solar Photovoltaic (PV) panels supplied and installed by Coolair.  Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) is a globally recognised standard for sustainability in buildings, and Platinum is the highest award level available.

The 112,000 sq. ft. office development is currently leased to leading inbound marketing software company HubSpot.

Coolair were requested by JV Tierney to work with them to design and install the Roof mounted Solar Photovoltaic System to meet a pre-determined annual solar generated kW hrs/annum figure.  This kW hrs/annum figure of PV generated electricity assisted the building in achieving its LEED Platinum building rating.

Equipment: –

Coolair selected Schweizer (formerly Hilti Solar) East/West non penetrative fixing system to achieve maximum yield per annum using minimum roof space.  Roof space is at a premium due to HVAC plant, green roof and fall arrest system all competing for their share.  As well as being non roof penetrative the Schweizer system is an aluminium kit form with certified longevity and a requirement for low amounts of ballast material/ per sq. metre of roof space.

A comprehensive Schweizer site specific report was compiled incorporating agreed panel layout to illustrate ballast requirements for the solar system. This report was compiled to satisfy engineers and architects concerns on wind loading.

We used Amerisolar Photovoltaic modules which are a well established manufacturer.  Coolair has had a long relationship with Amerisolar and have  imported nearly 4MW of Solar PV modules.  To complement the Amerisolar PV modules; we installed a Solax 3-phase inverter on the roof adjacent to the PV system.  These Solax inverters are suitable for external use.

The complete PV system was installed in approx 4 days including all ballast materials, all wiring and fixing of PV modules to the satisfaction of all parties.
